Lunar rainbow

This morning while walking on the beach before dawn we saw a lunar rainbow. The shape is the same as a normal rainbow but instead of the seven colours it is a pale arc of tones of grey. Quite extraordinary. I might not have known what it was but a few weeks ago on the Italian programme "L'eredità" they talked about this phenomenon. Quite a spectacular way to start a new year!
